ABOUT
The Artist Adviser

I have a breadth and depth of experience in the art world spanning 25 years which includes curating, exhibiting, producing, advising, and educating across both public and private sectors. This knowledge, alongside my own personal experience as a practising artist, puts me in a unique position to relate to and assist other creatives as a mentor. I have often learned the hard way about this industry and how to navigate it.

I am currently part of the faculty at Contemporary Art Academy delivering on their PG3 program. I am also Head of Artist Progression at Cosimo Art, an online arts organisation offering solutions for artists.

I have previously worked with organisations such as Wolverhampton Art Gallery, Birmingham Hippodrome, DASH, Grand Union, Coventry University, Creative Alliance, and Birmingham University. With Creative Shift, I have helped deliver development programmes to a huge number of creative organisations, large and small, independent producers, Artists, and SMEs. I even created my own temporary gallery project, Width Of Circle.

You will benefit from the tools, resources and approaches learned while working with these businesses and organisations.

As an artist, I have exhibited in London, Hong Kong, Miami and New York. Through my art practice, I have experience in self-promotion as well as working within a more traditional model of gallery representation, exhibiting in international art fairs, successfully obtaining Arts Council funding, and having work placed in private collections. This is all the experience I can bring to you in our sessions. Want to know how to communicate with galleries? How to build a network? How grow your visibility or change the way that the world perceives you and your work? These are all things I can help with.
As a mentor, I work intuitively, with a straight-talking approach to identify areas that need unblocking and enable rapid progress. I have a talent for seeing and drawing out an artist’s particular strengths to enable them to take on their full potential. I enjoy problem-solving seemingly impossible situations and offering support towards resolution. Instilling a newfound confidence into an artist’s practice.
